Pre-Requisites

Installation steps for R2023a

  • Navigate to "P:\Office of Research\Research Computing\RC\Matlab\R2023a_Windows". If you are not able to see P: drive, contact IT helpdesk.
  • right-click on the "matlab_R2023a_win64" setup icon and click on “Run as administrator”.
  • If you have already configured your MATLAB account with TAMU email, input TAMU email on the login screen and continue. If there is no account setup, select 'No account? Create One!'

  • Fill out the Create MatWorks Account form with the correct information and select continue

  • After filling out the form, a link to "create your profile through your university" is displayed. Copy the URL and paste it into your preferred browser to log in with your TAMUQ NetID and complete your profile. NOTE: Even if you use TAMUQ email (***.**@qatar.tamu.edu), your profile is configured with TAMU email. Therefore, use TAMU email (***.**@tamu.edu) for signing in to access university license.

  • After successfully logging in with a TAMU email address, the account will display an available 'Academic' License. Select Next

  • Keep the default destination folder or modify it to suit your needs. (It is recommended to use the default path) Select Next

  • Select the required products/packages (recommended products are already selected). Select Next

  • Select the 'Add shortcut to desktop'. Select Next

  • Confirm all the selection. Select Begin Install

  • Wait for installation to download all necessary packages and complete. It will take between 5 and 7 minutes, depending on your connection speed and system resources.

  • Close the installation window and then launch the application to continue using it.

Installation steps for previous versions

  1. Navigate to "P:\Office of Research\Research Computing\RC\Matlab". If you are not able to see P: drive, contact IT helpdesk.
  2. In the appropriate folder (e.g. R2013b, R2012b, R2017a etc.) right-click on the "Setup" icon and click on “Run as administrator”.
  3. In the Mathworks Installer window, choose the “Install without using the Internet” / "Use a File Installation key" option. Click Next.
  4. Accept the license terms. Click Next.
  5. Select the “I have the File Installation Key…” option, then copy and paste the installation key (a long numerical string) from the appropriate file (e.g. InstallationKey2017a.txt) located under P:\Office of Research\Research Computing\RC\Matlab\R201*. (Replace * with release number you are installing). Click Next.
  1. Unless you know what you are doing, choose to do a “Typical” install. Click Next.
  2. Accept the default install folder location. Click Next. Allow the installer to create the folder if it doesn’t exist.
  3. When asked to provide a license file location, click the Browse button and navigate to the folder; P:\Office of Research\Research Computing\RC\Matlab; and select "License_for_Client_Computers.lic". Click Next. Make sure you are connected to the Staff network before proceeding with this step, or you are connected to the TAMUQ network over VPN if you are off-campus.
  4. Finally, click on the Install button to start the installation.
